Equity Bank Champions Green Future Through School Tree Planting Initiative in Busia

As part of its 2025 Customer Care Week, Equity Bank has taken a commendable step toward environmental conservation by planting trees in schools across Uganda. This nationwide initiative was officially launched by the Equity Bank Executive Director at St. Julian High School in Kampala — and today, the spirit of green growth reached Busia District.

The Equity Bank Busia Branch carried this inspiring mission to Busia Trust Secondary School, where bank staff, the school management, and students joined hands to plant hundreds of tree seedlings within the school compound. The initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability while educating young people on the importance of preserving nature.

Speaking during the activity, the Busia Branch Manager emphasized that investing in the environment is investing in the future of learners and the community:

“These trees represent hope — hope for a greener, healthier environment for generations to come,” the manager said. “As Equity Bank, we believe in transforming lives, not only financially but also socially and ecologically.”

The School Director expressed gratitude to Equity Bank for choosing Busia Trust S.S., noting that the project will contribute to a beautiful and cleaner learning environment:

“Our students have gained practical knowledge on environmental care. We promise to protect and nurture these trees,” he stated.

Students who participated in the tree planting exercise shared excitement, acknowledging the importance of trees in combating climate change, reducing pollution, and providing shade and fresh air in the school environment.

This initiative reflects Equity Bank’s ongoing commitment to community development, education support, and environmental protection. Through customer-driven programs like this, the bank continues to cement its role as a responsible corporate citizen dedicated to the well-being of the people it serves.

As these young trees take root, so does the hope for a greener Busia — and a greener Uganda.
