Los Angel: From Busia to Kampala  A Journey of Art, Music, and Hustle.

Meet Chiled David, famously known as Los Angel  a versatile artist, musician, and entrepreneur originally from Marachi “C”, now fondly called Marachi City in Busia District, Uganda. His story is one of passion, resilience, and raw talent.

A Journey Through Education

Los Angel’s early education journey took him through several schools, reflecting the humble and diverse roots of his upbringing in Busia:

Primary School: He studied at Marachi Primary School, Parents Primary School, Town Nursery, and Happy Hours Primary School.

O’ Level: He attended Busia Trust Secondary School, where his talents continued to blossom alongside his academics.

A’ Level: He joined Mbale Secondary School, further shaping his identity and passion for the arts.

Tertiary: He later graduated from Mulago Paramedical School, equipping himself with professional skills and knowledge.

A Seed Planted in Sunday School

Los Angel’s creative journey started humbly in Sunday School, where music first ignited a fire in him. In 2010, he voiced his first song and hasn’t stopped since. Over the years, he has nurtured this gift, transforming it into a powerful platform for expression.

 “Most of my songs are feelings. I compose what I feel at that moment,” he says.

Born for Art

Creativity runs in Los Angel’s blood. Inspired by his father, who was an artist, he found himself naturally drawn to visual art. From pencils to acrylics, he now works with various materials including canvas, art boards, and soft brushes.

“The artwork I made for my first white client in the UK and the unexpected amount I was paid  still makes me proud,” he recalls.

 “I love art. I do anything concerning art because it’s in my blood.”

Training the Next Generation

Los Angel is not just about himself  he’s all about lifting others. He has trained numerous young artists in both Busia and Kampala, some of whom have gone on to start their own studios and workshops.

 “I’m proud of those I’ve mentored. And I’m still training more,” he shares.

Business Hustle: The Boda Boda Empire

Beyond music and art, Los Angel is also a sharp entrepreneur. He started his boda boda business with just one motorcycle  bought at UGX 1 million  and grew it into a fleet of around 10 motorcycles.

 “I started with one, gave it to a boy who brought 10k a day, that’s 300k a month. I topped up and bought more. Eventually, I opened a garage to reduce repair costs.”

In Kampala, he says, survival needs more than one stream of income. His story is proof of that.

What Keeps Him Going?

When asked how he deals with criticism, he smiled and said:

“I like negative reactions because they push me to work harder.”

With a night schedule for music and a day routine for art and business, his life is structured around his passions.
