Busia Eid Cup 2025: A Celebration of Football, Unity, and Community Voices

The 2025 Eid Cup Final delivered more than just football—it was a powerful blend of culture, unity, leadership, and celebration. Organized by Hon. Wesonga Hajuba, the tournament featured 12 teams and brought Busia together through sports, dialogue, and faith.

Busia Corporates (BCC) defeated Class of 20 in a thrilling penalty shootout (4–3) after a goalless full time, lifting the 2025 Eid Cup trophy in front of a cheering crowd.

BCC captain Kingdom, who also serves as a councillor in Busia Municipality, praised his team and encouraged tournament organizers to look for more talented players in the region.

Key political figures in attendance included:

• Hon. Hassan – Former Mayor & aspiring MP
• Mabachi – Sponsor & aspiring MP
• Hon. Wesonga Hajuba – Event organizer & aspiring MP
• District Hadhi – Emphasized Muslim unity and youth empowerment
• Mr. Copoliano – Representing Amb. Hon. Barbara Nekesa (NRM National Treasurer)

In a bold statement, Hon. Wesonga addressed political attacks and said: “In Parliament, do we present children or represent our constituencies?”

This final match gave the Muslim community a meaningful way to extend Eid celebrations with faith, football, and community unity at the core of the event.

The event saw the playground filled to capacity. Youth Mayor Meddy was the energetic MC of the day, keeping the atmosphere alive.

This tournament proved that football can go beyond entertainment—it can promote peace, inspire youth, and open doors for future leaders. All politicians present called for peaceful campaigns as the elections approach.
